Venus has officially entered Aries, the sign of her detriment. Aries is our cardinal fire sign, a diurnal sign where mars has his domicile. When Venus takes up residence here, she finds herself operating hard and fast, very different from her typical nature. I think of Venus in Aries like dumping a bucket of their love onto the object of their affections. Venus in detriment is not unable to love, quite the contrary. she loves so big and so hard with so little finesse that sometimes she overwhelms.
All of the faster moving planets will enter Mars’ diurnal domicile over the next few months, but evening star Venus leads the charge. She provides our first taste of what these inner planet Aries transits will look like this year with squares from Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto in Capricorn.
Venus in Aries is a time for passions unbridled and untamed, marrying the night and making love to the dark (Lady Gaga’s natal Venus in Aries really comes through in her music). However, superior squares from Capricorn during this entire transit will have us facing consequences for our behaviors. Fiery Venus can be brilliant but in the same token destructive. Fallen Jupiter and Saturn won’t have us forgetting that passion has limits and actions have consequences. While you may be tempted to follow your heart, fuck around, and find out, you’ll find quickly that those efforts don’t pan out as expected.
Venus in Aries is time to approach love unconventionally and to love a little too hard. Maybe it won’t work out, but there are greater regrets in inaction than in making bold choices. Love with all of yourself. Love fiercely. Love without shame as best as you can. Crack open your heart and trust that it will be strong enough to come together.
